IEEE Goldsmith Legacy League – Forever Generous

The IEEE Goldsmith Legacy League is an elite group of planned giving donors who are Forever Generous. The group is named for Alfred N. and Gertrude Goldsmith, whose philanthropic vision seeded the IEEE Foundation’s ability to support IEEE’s mission. Members of the IEEE Goldsmith Legacy League are building tomorrow by leaving legacy gifts to benefit future generations of engineers. Many members have included a bequest in their will or trust document. Some have named the IEEE Foundation as beneficiary of a life insurance policy, retirement plan, or charitable remainder trust.

If you decide to name the IEEE or IEEE Foundation as a beneficiary of your Charitable Remainder Trust, we hope you will share the good news with us. In 2017, four new donors shared that they have included IEEE or IEEE Foundation in their estate plans.

+ 2017 IEEE Foundation Board Member

Donald N. Heirman is a great friend to the IEEE Foundation and is Forever Generous as a member of the IEEE Goldsmith Legacy League. He received the 2018 IEEE Richard M. Emberson Award for Standardization of Electromagnetic Compatibility, reducing low and radio frequency noise in telephone circuits, and designing and operating compliance test facilities over the course of 30 years at Bell Labs.

Richard (Dick) and Nancy Gowen have a long history of service and generosity to IEEE and the IEEE Foundation. In 2015, Dick and Nancy made a multi-year pledge to the IEEE History Center Fund of the IEEE Foundation to enable the addition of Quick Response (QR) Codes to the photographs, busts and artifacts in multiple IEEE locations and to support the History Center’s overall operations.
