IEEE Heritage Circle – Honored Philanthropists
The philanthropic spirit among IEEE Foundation donors reflects a strong desire to personally “give back” to IEEE. Our donors are loyal, giving consistently throughout their career and lifetime. We recognize this level of ongoing commitment from our Honored Philanthropists to the IEEE Foundation in the IEEE Heritage Circle.
Honored Philanthropists are donors to the IEEE Foundations whose gifts total US$25,000 or more since 1 January 1995. Automatically recognized as members of the IEEE Heritage Circle, donors are categorized respectively within five named giving levels ranging from US$25,000 to more than US$1M. In 2017, 10 donors were upgraded to a higher recognition level and 11 new members joined the Circle.

1989 IEEE President Emerson W. Pugh shakes hands with Gregory Olsen at a Global Leaders Series event on 3 February at The Union League Club New York, NY, US. 2008 IEEE President Lewis Terman and 1999 IEEE President Kenneth R. Laker were also excited to meet Olsen, the IEEE Fellow who paid his own way to the International Space Station and shared his story with IEEE Foundation guests.

Perhaps no one understands and appreciates the heart and soul of the IEEE mission and the importance of the Realize the Full Potential of IEEE fundraising campaign more than Jerome “Jerry” J. Suran, who served as the 1979 IEEE President and also holds the esteemed title of the oldest living IEEE president. Jerry is an Honored Philanthropist in the IEEE Heritage Circle.
